Well, to all the Members of the Flying Aces I would like to say "Welcome".
My name is Curt, I am an Information Technology Specialist in the Northern Chautauqua County area (Dunkirk). I am not involved in your hobby, but a hobby close to it, Amateur (Ham) Radio, so I understand the radio control portion of your hobby very well.
Enough about me. I just wanted to comment here on your forum, about it and your website as well. This has been a huge undertaking, and I have just been in the background assisting DonP with the rough edges and getting the database up and running. In short, use it to it's full potential. Promote it, talk about it, tell everyone you know about it. There is a lot that can be done here. The next step is getting it linked off as many other websites as possible, and in some generalized databases related to your hobby. I already have a couple I would like to do and I will be posting the results and links here.
The next thing Don and I were worried about were the attachments. We are not on a high end server, but we aren't on a low end server either. I saw a member "flicks5" posted some pictures today and they were well under the limits, good going. So you might ask, why the limits ? There are 2 reasons. One being bandwidth. They claim we have 250GB per month, "but" let's not push it. I know that is an amount you will never use, but a restriction has to be put somewhere. The second reason, is people with dialup Internet. You do not want to have to have them sit there for 20 minutes waiting to see your picture.
That's about it. Remember you have PM (Personal Messaging) here and a lot more. If there are any questions or assistance needed regarding this forum, or simply a question you may have, post it in the "General Discussion" area. Sorry, I can't help you with your aircraft related problems.
Best regards to all. Enjoy your Website and Forum.
